Shiatsu literally means ‘finger pressure’. Shiatsu is a Japanese form of manual therapy, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Within this system, physical or emotional disturbances are the result of an imbalance in the natural flow of vital energy (Qi). This energy circulates the body through energy channels or meridians, which are connected to the internal organs and emotional functions.
By applying pressure on specific points, we influence the energy channels to remove blockages and strengthen energy where it has weakened. Shiatsu aims to harmonize the flow of energy and to restore the body’s self-healing abilities. It relaxes the muscles, helps detoxification, reduces stress and improves blood circulation.
Russian massage therapy is a massage technique developed in the former Soviet Union. It’s most often classified as a sports massage. Russian massage is sometimes referred to as connective tissue massage, point massage, or reflexology massage, depending on the techniques used during treatment.
