Cranial Massage Therapy is a scientific manipulation of the soft tissues of the body for the purpose of normalizing those tissues and consistence of manual techniques that include applying fixed or movable pressure, holding, and/or causing movement of or to the body.
Shiatsu literally means ‘finger pressure’. Shiatsu is a Japanese form of manual therapy, based on Traditional Chinese Medicine. Within this system, physical or emotional disturbances are the result of an imbalance in the natural flow of vital energy (Qi). This energy circulates the body through energy channels or meridians, which are connected to the internal organs and emotional functions.
By applying pressure on specific points, we influence the energy channels to remove blockages and strengthen energy where it has weakened. Shiatsu aims to harmonize the flow of energy and to restore the body’s self-healing abilities. It relaxes the muscles, helps detoxification, reduces stress and improves blood circulation.
Russian massage therapy is a massage technique developed in the former Soviet Union. It’s most often classified as a sports massage. Russian massage is sometimes referred to as connective tissue massage, point massage, or reflexology massage, depending on the techniques used during treatment.
Russian massage techniques are similar to most sports massage practices, but they involve slower, softer motions. Russian massages focus on the use of friction to generate heat within the body. The masseuse combines this with vibration to ease muscle pain, stiffness and mental stress.
Foot Reflexology massage can be a deeply relaxing and therapeutic modality for those suffering from plantar fasciitis, ankle injuries or even everyday work and play. Your massage therapist will apply traditional Swedish and sports massage techniques to the foot, calf and upper leg. This will help relieve toe pain, ankle pain, plantar fasciitis and common forms of arthritis, and can also decrease stress and anxiety in the entire body.
Sports massage therapy is geared toward athletes, from world-class professionals to average joe working out a couple of times a week. Sports massage techniques are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice. Focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements. Sports massage therapy can be used as a means to enhance pre-event preparation and reduce recovery time for maximum performance during training or after an event. Athletes have discovered that specially designed sports massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injuries and prepares their body and mind for optimal performance.
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it is tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and therapists who are trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly.
Acupressure massage therapy revolves around the theory that the body has a natural balance and if this balance gets disturbed, it can result in pain and other unfavorable medical conditions. Acupressure massage triggers the same key points in the body that Acupuncture targets, but instead of puncturing the points with pins, the massage therapist applies pressure to the targeted pressure points with their hands and fingers.
- Trigger Point
Trigger points are tight areas within muscle tissue that causes pain in other parts of the body. A trigger point in the back, for example, may produce referral pain in the neck. The neck, now acting as a satellite trigger point, may then cause pain in the head. The pain may be sharp and intense, or a dull ache. Trigger point massage therapy is designed to alleviate the source of the pain through cycles of isolated pressure and release.
wedish massage is the most common and best-known type of massage in the West. Swedish massage is the foundation for other types of massage, including sports massage, deep tissue massage and aromatherapy massage.
A Swedish massage can be slow and gentle, or vigorous and bracing, depending on the therapist’s personal style and what he or she is trying to achieve.
TMJ massage therapy is one of many techniques that can help address the cause of TMJ disorder. Whether the pain comes from a jaw injury, arthritis, or simply the fatigue from repeatedly grinding or clenching your teeth, regular massage therapy can make a difference.
- Deep Tissue
A deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). Deep tissue massage is used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
